Could you tell us about the background briefly? How Lado Bokuchava had started?
I started working in the Georgian fashion industry in 2012, ever since then I worked for several brands. In 2017, I launched my own line at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi.
Georgia is still a relatively less known territory for Korean readers. Could you tell us how the current young fashion scene is in Tbilisi?
It’s been over four years since the fashion industry has become a symbol of change and progress in Georgia. Cooperation with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi and Demna Gvasalia’s success have changed everything. Nowadays Georgia leads towards transitional phase from soviet, underdeveloped to modern, blooming. Young designers are breaking the boundaries, focusing on success in this business and finally go global. Nobody took it seriously years ago in old generations.
The Georgian women are often considered as strong figures, which sort of femininity are you aiming to project through your collections?
I don’t like gender-bending fashion. I think that my collections are gender-neutral and especially for unafraid people.
