What does SGMH stand for?

The name SGMH stands for the initial letters of our parents surnames: S – Snjezana, G – Gunnar, M – Marion and H – Helmut. This is supposed to be a declaration of love to our parents to which we owe studying what we love and to practice it now also as a profession. The code 0X053474D48 stands for SGMH written in hexa-decimal (computer language). This should express SGMH´s forward thinking and show that the future of fashion is digital - and so are we!

What’s your design process? All the SGMH products are handmade?

We are strongly inspired by street art, German fairy-tales and of course by tattoo art in different cultures. Our design process therefore always has a lot to do with research, collecting inspiration and creating collages. After finding the first inspiration,  we start to sketch. During the sketching we are often already trying to start with creating the first mockups and patterns.

And yes, all our products are handmade in our Berlin studio! Every piece is designed and made with love by our lovely team. As already mentioned, we use a lot of fabric remnants of our own and of other companies. We produce our pieces in a small edition or in the “made-after-order” model to reduce fabric waste.

Where can we find SGMH?

In the moment we are selling over our website (www.sgmh.shop) as well as over the concept store  Studio 183 (www.studio183.co). We have currently also installed an pop up & exhibition at their shop in the mall “Bikini Berlin”. We are curated there now for one month. The shop is open from Monday till Saturday from 12 am – 8 pm. So come and visit us if you are in Berlin 😊!
